Harvest collection and giving to Tearfund - Sun 1st Oct
Services on Sun 1st Oct will include a harvest food collection and giving to Tearfund:
Please bring, on that Sunday, any of the following: longlife fruit juice, UHT milk, coffee, tinned fish, tinned tomatoes, tinned fruit, hot chocolate drink (water mix only), tea bags, cordial/concentrated juice, individually wrapped chocolate biscuits, cup-a-soups, sugar, crisps, socks/gloves/hats, toiletries. These will go in support of our local Foodbank and City Centre Ministries.
In addition, offertory giving that Sunday will go to Tearfund a Christian relief and aid organisation we support. If you would like to give specifically to Tearfund please use the offertory collection taken during the services that day.
Evangelism Conference - Thurs 5th Oct
Platt is hosting the annual Northern Evangelism Conference- a day conference for anyone doing the work of gospel outreach in the local church.
Better Story: New ways to tell the better story of the gospel in our narrative-soaked world. Speakers John Stevens, Glynn Harrison, Jonty Allock and Rico Tice.

Northern Women’s Convention - Sat 14th Oct
Worth It: We all have times when we ask ourselves is following Jesus really work it? Speaker: Agnes Brough.
Seminars include: How to: Reading the Bible with Children, How to: Leading Evangelistic 1-2-1s, Reaching Women in a feminist world, Reaching the unreached peoples of the world, Longings and lament, Following Jesus: How to choose his way, The joy set before us.

Next Foodbank collection after Sun 15th Oct
The next collection for our local Fallowfield/Withington Foodbank will be during the week after Sun 15th Oct.
They ask us to supply the following specific items: UHT milk, longlife fruit juice, tinned fruit and custard.
Collection bins are in the glass foyer by the Breakout Space Speak to Rachael Rubie or Jo Bull for more information.
Cheadle Bible Convention- 18th/19th Oct
Deeper... Habakkuk: Facing the challenges of our broken world with confidence in our great God.
Mark Pickles will be speaking on the prophet Habakkuk, showing how we may face the challenges of our broken world with confidence in our great God.
Mark Pickles has been in full time ministry for nearly 30 years. He served in Rock Ferry and Hartford, then was vicar in Winsford, before 14 years in Duffield, Derby. For the last three years he has been teaching trainee ministers at Oak Hill College in north London. and since this summer is also part-time vicar of St Stephen’s Moulton, Cheshire. Mark loves the local church and longs to see people transformed by the gospel.

Reformation celebration event - Union Hall, Sat 28th Oct
Union Hall will be holding a meeting to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. It will be on Saturday 28th October. There will be an exhibition at 5pm, followed by a light tea at 6.30pm, then a service at 7.30pm with a talk about the Reformation by a visiting speaker.

On November 16th-19th Platt are putting on a series of evangelistic events to help you and your friends find out about the Christian faith. 2018 Platt Church weekend away - save the date
The 2018 Platt Church weekend away will be Fri 15th - Sun 17th June 2018, we’ll be heading away to Cefn Lea Park (http://www.cefnlea.co.uk), in Wales, for a weekend of teaching and fun as a church family together. There’ll be time to eat together, hear God’s word, hang out and have fun and get to know people from all across the church.
Our speaker will be Paul Gardner. Paul is Senior Pastor of ChristChurch Presbyterian in Atlanta. Before that, his ministry has included teaching at Oak Hill Theological college for seven years, pastoring a church here in the North West for over twelve years and serving as Archdeacon of Exeter. Paul and his wife Sharon moved to Atlanta in 2005.
