Summer at Platt: Church Family Picnics - 13th Aug & 27th Aug

Grace Church Manchester, together with Platt, are hosting a NWP evening course this autumn

There are three strands covered on the 1st year evening course:
1. Biblical Theology – an overview of the whole Bible.
2. Exposition – after covering the tools of interpreting and applying the Bible passage there will be worked expositions through a number of Bible books.
3. Hands on Training – each week we will teach the Bible to one another. Each student will have opportunities to teach Bible passages and receive encouragement and feedback

Triplets, Tea and Toast- starting Sat Jul 22nd
A friendly, informal, weekly drop in on a Saturday morning open to all the ladies of Platt. An opportunity to meet with other women to chat and pray together, and get to know each other.
Come for prayer, individually or in triplets, light Bible study if desired, or just tea, toast and a chat…whichever you prefer. Even if you’re pushed for time, please feel very welcome to just pop in and say hello!

Holiday at Home - some items/help required
The Holiday at Home team is about 30 strong and has planned a relaxing 3 days of fun, food and fellowship for our senior members but needs help from the congregation to make the event extra special.
We are looking for the following items:
- carnival/beach props including: beach inflatables such as palm trees/beach balls, beach towels, beach style/director chairs, paddling pool
- easy games: hook a duck, 200-500 piece jigsaws, pin the tail on the donkey
- cake stands for an ‘Afternoon Tea’
If you are able to loan any of these things (label them for easy return), please contact holidayathome[at]plattchurch.org or speak to Linda Bonner, Will or Sam Carey.
We also need some energetic people to help us set/reset the church as our dining room. We’ll be setting up tables on Sunday 30th July after the evening service and then resetting on Thursday 3rd August (approx. 4pm). Please let us know if you’d be willing to help.
Finally, please pray for the team as they bring the final preparations together and for those who will be attending, that they will be well enough to attend and excited for a time of fellowship.

Job opportunities at Café One, St Mary’s Cheadle. Café One was established in 2011 as an outreach ministry of St Mary’s Cheadle. They are seeking a team of full or part time shift supervisors to support the Cafe manager and reopen the CafeOne.
The ideal candidate will have some experience of working in a café and/or kitchen environment. Organisational skills and communication skills, together with the ability to engage with people from a range of backgrounds and ages, are essential.
Reformation celebration event - Union Hall, Sat 28th Oct
Union Hall will be holding a meeting to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. It will be on Saturday 28th October. There will be an exhibition at 5pm, followed by a light tea at 6.30pm, then a service at 7.30pm with a talk about the Reformation by a visiting speaker.

Job Opportunity- Mission Development Manager for Latin America
This is an exciting and pioneering opportunity to lead Church Mission Society into mission growth in Latin America. Building on a fantastic heritage, you will seek to enable and inspire mission in and from Latin America. Through working with ourwell-established relationships (including that with the Anglican Church and others) and through forging new partnerships you will build a stronger mission movement across the region.
Following an initial induction/start-up programme in Oxford, UK (envisaged to be at least six months) the role will be based in a strategic ‘hub’ location such as Lima, Peru and will seek to strategically develop, fulfil and maintain CMS’s vision, aims and values.

2018 Platt Church weekend away - save the date
The 2018 Platt Church weekend away will be Fri 15th - Sun 17th June 2018, we’ll be heading away to Cefn Lea Park (http://www.cefnlea.co.uk), in Wales, for a weekend of teaching and fun as a church family together. There’ll be time to eat together, hear God’s word, hang out and have fun and get to know people from all across the church.
Our speaker will be Paul Gardner. Paul is Senior Pastor of ChristChurch Presbyterian in Atlanta. Before that, his ministry has included teaching at Oak Hill Theological college for seven years, pastoring a church here in the North West for over twelve years and serving as Archdeacon of Exeter. Paul and his wife Sharon moved to Atlanta in 2005.
