A place for international students and visitors to relax, have fun, play games, make friends and practise their English.
Who is it for:
International students and academic visitors of all faiths or none. Children of international students or academic students are also welcome at the Sunday café.
When & where we meet:
- iCafé: Every Monday, 7-9:30pm, at at Union Hall Evangelical Church, Stretford Road, Hulme M15 6DY
- Salford Globé Cafe: Every Friday, 6-8pm, at the Creation Café, The Angel Centre, 1 St Phillips Pl., Salford, M3 6AF
- Manchester Globe Café: Every 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month, 3:30-6pm, at 31A Daisy Bank Road, M14 5QP.
What to expect:
The purpose of the café is to provide a safe place for international students and academic visitors to relax, have fun, play games, make friends and practise their English. There is no charge for the café and free refreshments are provided. Each week there is a 30 minute ‘focus’ where there is a presentation on a cultural or other topic of interest. There is also the option to attend a 30 minute Bible study. Activities run by supporting churches are also advertised at the café. The cafés are run by a team of Christians from a number of different churches from across Greater Manchester.
Friends International also runs a hospitality scheme in Christian homes, outings and weekly Beginners and Advanced Home Bible studies for those who are interested.
